While this year’s campaign hasn’t exactly panned out how head coach Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks drew it up, the roster is filled with difference-makers who could cause Texas A&M some trouble.
The Gamecocks were relentless against the Aggies in 2024, as Beamer and company demolished Mike Elko’s squad, 44-20 at Williams-Bryce Stadium. It was a loss that is etched into the minds of Texas A&M returners like quarterback Marcel Reed, who said the rematch Saturday is personal, considering all of the postseason implications that were snatched away from the hands of those in Maroon and White last year.
Despite South Carolina’s record so far, the Aggies can not take the Gamecocks lightly if the program wants to move one step closer to securing its spot in the Southeastern Conference Championship.
For Elko and company to make more history by securing their 10th consecutive victory of the season, Texas A&M must be prepared for the many talented athletes on Beamer’s roster. The visitors from Columbia are well-known for their unique schemes on special teams and high-octane offense that could cause the Aggies some issues if they are not ready for the fight South Carolina will bring to Kyle Field in Week 12.
Here are five names to know entering Saturday’s matchup against the Gamecocks in Bryan-College Station, Texas:
QB LaNorris Sellers
2025 stats: 1,536 PASS YDS | 61.7% COMP | 7 TD | 5 INT | 158 RUSH YDS | 3 TD
Tale of the tape: Sellers’ ability to make magic happen with his arm and his feet will provide a massive challenge for the Texas A&M defense on Saturday. The redshirt sophomore from Florence, S.C., shredded Alabama’s defense in Week 9 for 222 passing yards, 67 rushing yards and two total touchdowns. He’ll look to do more of the same and spoil the Aggies’ season, yet again.
WR Nyck Harbor
2025 stats: 21 REC | 401 YDS | 4 TD
Tale of the tape: Physical, strong and as quick as they come, Harbor has been Sellers’ go-to guy in 2025. Built like a tank with some of the best hands in the SEC, the Aggies’ secondary must be vigilant at all times to slow him down and prevent big plays.
LB Dylan Stewart
2025 stats: 30 TOTAL TACKLES (16 SOLO) | 3.5 SACK | 2 FF | 1 PD
Tale of the tape: Stewart entered the 2025 season as one of the most highly anticipated returning stars in the SEC for good reason. While his production numbers have taken a hit compared to his outings in 2024, he will certainly be atop NFL Draft boards moving forward. If Texas A&M’s offensive line isn’t able to fend Stewart off, South Carolina could prevent the 17th-best offense in the country from succeeding.
DB DQ Smith
2025 stats: 51 TOTAL TACKLES (38 SOLO) | 1 INT | 1 PD
Tale of the tape: The 6-foot-1, 219-pounder from Columbia flies all over the field with ease. Smith leads the Gamecocks in total tackles, while also having an interception to pair with his innate physicality. With Texas A&M wide receiver Mario Craver questionable, Smith and the South Carolina secondary could take advantage.
DB Peyton Williams
2025 stats: 36 TOTAL TACKLES (27 SOLO) | 2 INT | 2 PD
Tale of the tape: Tied for the team lead with two interceptions, Williams is another defensive back the Aggies’ offense must account for in Week 12. His quickness and elite tracking ability have allowed him to rack up over 30 total tackles, which will be key for the Gamecocks against the electric Texas A&M wide receiving corps.
