3-Star Linebacker Moses Poku-Kankam Commits to Rutgers Football

Rutgers football has added its second defensive commit of the 2027 recruitment class, as 3- star North Carolina linebacker Moses Poku-Kankam has decided to commit to the Scarlet Knights, according to his social media account. Poku-Kankam took his first trip up to campus last Thursday, which Rutgers coaches used to seal his commitment. He is scheduled to take an official visit on May 29th.

Poku-Kankam plays his high school ball for the Providence Day School in North Carolina. Despite being listed as a linebacker by On3, 247sports has him listed as a safety because of the hybrid role that he played last season for his high school team. He took snaps as a cornerback, strong safety, and free safety this past fall. He finished his junior season with 65 total tackles, 9 passes defended, and 1 interception, earning All-Conference honors and helping his team to a perfect 13-0 record and a state championship.

Rutgers was a little behind in offering the 6-foot-2, 200-pound prospect, as he was only offered in mid-March, after he had already received a few Power Four offers. This is because Rutgers had a busy off-season revamping the defensive coaching staff. Poku-Kankam was one of the first linebackers the new staff reached out to, according to On3. He ended up choosing Rutgers over schools like East Carolina, Louisville, Syracuse, Wake Forest, and more.
