TCU beat out several Power 4 programs for 2027 three-star defensive line propect Darrien Neal. The 6-foot-3, 275-pounder from Denton Guyer committed to the Horned Frogs on Saturday, becoming TCU’s third member of the 2027 recruiting class (Drake Carroll, Brice McCurdy). Neal registered 54 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks during his junior season in 2025. Neal had 26 tackles, four tackles for loss and a sack as a sophomore. Mike Roach of 247sports was first to report the news of Neal’s commitment to the Horned Frogs.
Neal chose TCU over Kansas State, Arizona, Arizona State, Mississippi State, Baylor, Colorado, Oklahoma State, Purdue, SMU and more. A multi-sport athlete, Neal has played basketball and competed in track and field at Denton Guyer. The Horned Frogs, who recently extended defensive coordinator Andy Avalos, are looking to build upon back-to-back 9-4 seasons that culminated with bowl victories. TCU won the New Mexico Bowl in 2024 and the Alamo Bowl in 2025.
