There’s still a whole lot for these two to keep fighting for in what should be a whale of a Friday night fight.
Louisville lost last week to Cal in a rough overtime thriller, but with Virginia also losing, the door is opened just a crack to have a shot at getting into the ACC Championship.
Long story short, that’s probably not going to happen, but get to 10-2, and thanks to wins over Miami, Pitt, and James Madison – that last one really matters now – there’s a chance to be deep in the hunt for an at-large CFP spot.
Clemson caught a break that Penn State has become a total mess, otherwise the spotlight of disappointment would be much, much brighter.
However, it got by Florida State last week, and if it can win one of its last two games on the road against Louisville or South Carolina, and assuming a win over Furman, it’ll go bowling.

Why Clemson Will Win
He hasn’t been Heisman good and he’s not getting any national recognition, but Cade Klubnik has been hitting everything lately.
Over his last four games, he has connected on 78% of his passes with eight touchdowns and one pick. Finally, it’s like the weight of the world is off his shoulders, and he’s going out there and ripping it.
The Louisville pass defense has been solid for most of the year, but last week, Cal’s rising star quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele went off.
Klubnik has to keep pushing and keep carrying the offense. If he comes close to 300 yards and stays as accurate, the Tigers can keep up.
Why Louisville Will Win
So what’s Clemson’s problem?
There’s no running game, there’s a bit too much of a reliance on Klubnik at times, and the defense has been inconsistent against the better passing teams.
It couldn’t stop Duke’s Darian Mensah or SMU”s Kevin Jennings, and it lost. It lost to Syracuse in the game that knocked out Steve Angeli, Haynes King was great in Georgia Tech’s win, and Garrett Nussmeier got the job done for LSU in the opener.
As long as Miller Moss is sharp for the Cardinal passing game, and there aren’t a slew of turnovers, this should be a good bounceback game, but …
Clemson vs Louisville Prediction, Betting Lines
Again, completion percentage will matter.
Both Louisville losses were in overtime, and those came in two of the three games when the pass defense allowed quarterbacks to complete more than 60% of their passes.
The other time was in the win over Miami when Carson Beck still had one last shot. The Cardinals will bring the heat, and Klubnik, who’s trying to get past an ankle injury, will have a hard time trying to sidestep all the pressure.
This should be a blast.
