OU football LB Kobie McKinzie downgraded on SEC availability report vs Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — OU football linebacker Kobie McKinzie has been downgraded from probable to questionable and defensive back Gentry Williams has been elevated to available to play Saturday against Tennessee, according to the Friday SEC availability report.
McKinzie is dealing with a groin injury he suffered in the first half of the Sooners’ loss to Ole Miss last Saturday. OU coach Brent Venables said Monday night he’s “hopeful” McKinzie will be able to return against the Volunteers. Williams exited against South Carolina and didn’t play against Ole Miss.
Running backs Jovantae Barnes and Taylor Tatum and wide receiver Keontez Lewis are listed as out, offensive lineman Logan Howland is listed as probable and offensive lineman Derek Simmons is doubtful.
McKinzie is one of OU’s defensive leaders and has recorded 24 tackles this season, including 5 ½ for loss. Not having him in the second half certainly hurt the Sooners against the Rebels.
Defensive back Kendel Dolby was also listed as out for the first time this week.
