Two College Football Bowl Games Could Be Headed To The CW Network

As more and more sporting events get spread out around different TV channels, streaming sites and even social media platforms, multiple college football bowl games could be moved around, as well.

ESPN and FOX, for the most part, have been the home of college football bowl season. We've seen some prominent games moved elsewhere, including the College Football Playoff, but for the most part, the Worldwide Leader in Sports still dominates bowl season.

That could change a bit, though.

According to a report, the CW Network could be the home for two prominent bowl games in the coming years.

According to a report from Austin Karp at Sports Business Journal, two college football bowl games could be headed to the CW Network.

The Holiday Bowl and the newly-returned Poinsettia Bowl could be landing on the CW Network.

“We have not had one group say they were not willing to take the call,” Excelsior Sports and Entertainment’s Tag Garson, who is reportedly assisting Sports San Diego in its media search for both bowl games, told SBJ. “When Fox passed on our final offer, it allowed us to go into the marketplace, and we have been talking to everyone. … We’re not leaving any stone unturned. … We’ve only been in the marketplace for a couple of weeks, so this is very new.”

The CW Network has more interest in bowl games

The CW Network has made it clear that interest in pursuing more bowl games is there.

“Based on the success of the bowl season last year and the Arizona Bowl, we’re taking a look to add to those to potentially add to our college landscape,” CW SVP/Sports Mike Perman told Front Office Sports.

It'll be interesting to see where all of these bowl games land.
