4-Star QB Peter Bourque to Announce Commitment Date After Strong Visit to Virginia Tech

Quarterback Peter Bourque decommitted from the Michigan Wolverines after the team replaced Sherrone Moore with Kyle Whittingham. Since that decision on Feb. 17, the signal caller has been reevaluating his options.

The Virginia Tech Hokies, under new head coach James Franklin, have emerged as a serious contender. Bourque made his way to Blacksburg on April 18 for an unofficial visit during the Hokies’ annual spring game. According to Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong, a source said it was a “great visit.”

At 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, he is a four-star recruit, the No. 7 quarterback and the No. 82 player in the nation, per Rivals Industry Rankings. He’s coming off an impressive junior season at the Tabor Academy, throwing for 2,241 yards and 18 touchdowns. Bourque also rushed for 688 yards and 15 touchdowns.

With summer approaching, the quarterback is ready to make a decision. On Thursday, Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett reported that Bourque will be announcing his commitment decision on May 14.

A list of finalists is unknown, but since decommitting from Michigan, he’s taken just a handful of visits. That includes with the Georgia Bulldogs (March 2 and March 28), Florida Gators (March 26), Miami Hurricanes (April 2), Penn State Nittany Lions (April 9) and Hokies.

The Nittany Lions are currently viewed as the most likely landing spot. Wiltfong logged an expert prediction on March 16 for Bourque to choose the Nittany Lions with a 60 percent confidence level.

However, after spending time with Franklin and his staff, Virginia Tech is hoping to take the lead. If the Hokies land Bourque, he would be their 11th commitment in the 2027 recruiting class. As of now, the group ranks fifth in the ACC and 26th in the nation.
