Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall continues to look at every possible avenue to improve their roster for 2026 and beyond.
Recruiting for the Florida Gators has been a massive win under head coach Jon Sumrall.
Going into the month of May, former head coach Billy Napier had just two commitments. By the end of the day on May 8th, Sumrall has landed a whopping 14 commitments, including the first five-star commitment on the offensive line in Maxwell Hiller.
Tuesday landed the Gators another player in a unique way, as the Gators have received a commitment from cornerback Javier Jones.
Florida Gators land junior college commitment CB Javier Jones
It’s a really interesting addition with Jones coming into the fold. Being that Jones is a junior college addition, he will be eligible to play right away, and is set to get on campus right away.
He only made one other reported visit to UTEP, with some other interest coming in late. He spoke to multiple people within the program, and it made a difference.
“I’ve talked to [Director of Player Personnel] Chris Prescott the most, but I just started talking to Brandon Harris like three or four days ago. Coach Harris told me that he’s been fighting to get me down here for a visit. He said they’re about work, so if I come there, be ready to work. He said he thinks I could be a good fit to the room.”
Florida Gators commit CB Javier Jones
Jones played 10 games at Independence Community College last season, and is heading into a fascinating cornerback room. Dijon Johnson, Cormani McClain, and DJ Coleman are the likely starters, with multiple depth pieces ready to battle for playing time. Fall camp will be the first time we get to see Jones, and it will be interesting to see how he fits in the room.
