The Florida State Seminoles were looking to make a late addition through the transfer portal, targeting former Texas State defensive lineman Devarrick Woods. Not only were they not able to land the veteran, but they will have to play against him during the 2026 season.

Woods committed to the Clemson Tigers on Tuesday, becoming another rare transfer portal addition for Dabo Sweeney. FSU is set to host Clemson on Oct. 31. Woods also visited the Florida Gators and Kansas State Wildcats during his recruitment, which heated up after the NCAA gave him an extra year of eligibility.

He is originally from Bossier City, Louisiana, and was a member of the 2021 recruiting class. He started his career as an unranked prospect at Hinds Community College before transferring to Texas State ahead of the 2025 season. He played in 11 games last year, recording 16 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, and a quarterback hurry in 177 snaps.

He spent two years at Hinds Community College, making 66 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and three pass breakups in 18 total games. He will have one season of eligibility with the Tigers and will help fortify their depth.

The Seminoles added two transfer defensive linemen this offseason in Jordan Sanders and Rylan Kennedy. Woods wasn’t the only late addition they were pursuing, they are also recruiting JUCO defensive lineman Malachi Brown, who recently named them one of his top three schools.
