The Oklahoma Sooners have done a great job in the 2027 recruiting class, earning commitments from 21 players before summer even starts, but they’re not done yet. Oklahoma is in the mix for one of the best defensive linemen in the country in Arizona’s Yahzeen Zion.

Zion cut his top five to Miami, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Florida, and LSU on Monday, according to Brandon Huffman of Rivals.

Zion stands at 6-foot-5 and 265 pounds. Zion is a really good athlete who could play defensive end or bulk up and play three-technique defensive tackle. According to Rivals, he’s the No. 31 defensive lineman in the class and the No. 7 player in the state of Arizona.

The Sooners have done a great job in the state of Arizona over the last couple of recruiting cycles, signing Niko and Beau Jandreau in the 2026 recruiting class, and they currently hold a commitment from Zion’s teammate Mikyal Davis.

Oklahoma currently has five defensive linemen committed to their 2027 recruiting class, but the Sooners are looking to stack talent in the trenches in the cycle. Zion’s talent and potential would provide another big-time player with upside for defensive line assistants Todd Bates and Miguel Chavis to work with.
