The Washington Huskies have locked in an official visit with a promising defensive lineman, three-star Josh Christensen.
The 6-foot-6, 250-pound product of Lake Oswego High School in Oregon, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 108 edge rusher and No. 5 player in the state by 247Sports, has seen his stock steadily rise. He now holds 19 offers after Oklahoma and Nebraska joined the hunt for his services in early May, and has lined up four official visits for the coming months.
In a Big Ten-heavy slate, which began with a trip to Illinois in mid-April, Christensen will take his official visit to Washington on May 29, followed by Utah on June 5, Oregon on June 12, before he finishes things off with Northwestern on June 19. Thanks to a strong relationship with defensive line coach Jason Kaufusi and outside linebackers coach Aaron Van Horn, the Huskies appear to be one of the frontrunners for his services.
“Coach Kaufusi and coach Van Horn, I love the way they coach their guys and their energy,” Christensen told Dawgman.com’s Scott Eklund. “They said I fit really well in the scheme and that I can help them win a national championship…I fit well in their scheme, and they felt I am a great player.”
Washington has hosted Christensen for several unofficial visits over the last few months, with the first coming for Junior Day in early March, before he returned for a spring practice in April and the Dawgs After Dark spring game in May. With his size, versatility, strength in the run game, and motor, Christensen looks like he could develop into a full-time defensive tackle at the college level, which would make him a valuable addition along the interior for defensive coordinator Ryan Walters.
The Huskies currently hold two commits along the defensive line: four-star defensive tackle Jon Ioane and three-star defensive lineman Matamatagi Uiagalelei, while Jedd Fisch’s coaching staff is also set to host four-star defensive tackle Tevita Nonu, and three-star edge rushers Troy Mailo and Jag Ioane for official visits.
