Since his arrival in Seattle, Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies coaching staff have placed a significant emphasis on heavily recruiting the state of Arizona, and powerhouse Desert Edge High School has become one of the biggest talent pipelines for UW.

With a pair of commitments in the 2027 class from Desert Edge standouts: four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf and four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney, the Huskies are hoping to continue that trend in 2028, and have extended offers to several players in the program, including four-star safety Jaelyn Easterling-Flores, who is widely regarded as one of the best underclassmen in the country.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect is ranked as the nation’s No. 52 overall prospect and No. 5 safety in the 2028 class by the 247Sports Composite, and holds 40 offers. With Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas, and so many others in the picture, he can choose from practically any of the nation’s top programs to continue his career.

In just eight games as a sophomore, he recorded 45 tackles, 6 for loss, with 2 sacks, 2 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery, while displaying all the desired traits from an impact player on the back end of a defense.

It doesn’t take long when throwing on his high school film that not only does Easterling-Flores play with great physicality, but he also shows off the athleticism and instincts that defensive coordinator Ryan Walters and safeties coach Taylor Mays desire in coverage to move him between the post and down safety spots in the scheme.

His high school coaching staff also trusts him enough as both a run defender and a pass rusher to walk him as far down as outside linebacker to let him chase down ball carriers or get after opposing quarterbacks, something Walters did on occasion with All-Big Ten honorable mention Alex McLaughlin in 2025. Combined with his ability to stay attached to receivers in man coverage, he has all the traits needed to be deployed early on in his college career.

Easterling-Flores is the third member of Desert Edge’s 2028 class to receive a UW offer, joining five-star edge rusher Jalanie George and four-star cornerback Nekhi Lambeth.
