The Tennessee Volunteers made an exciting splash in the 2027 recruiting class when landing defensive lineman Kadin Fife. He’s coming off a productive season at Chattooga High School, recording 31 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and six sacks.
The Summerville, Georgia native also has impressive size for a high school junior, at 6-foot-5 and 290 pounds. Along with that, he is a four-star recruit, the no. 36 defensive lineman and the No. 343 player in the nation, per Rivals Industry Rankings.
Before committing to Tennessee on Nov. 21, the Volunteers, Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies, Auburn Tigers, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Louisville Cardinals were his top choices.
However, even after months of being pledged to Tennessee, the battle isn’t over. An article from Rivals’ Chad Simmons reports that the Ole Miss Rebels are becoming a serious threat to flip the pass rusher.
“Ole Miss is emerging as a legitimate flip threat for Kadin Fife,” Simmons wrote. “The four-star defensive lineman remains committed to Tennessee, but Ole Miss has made a strong push. Fife has visited Oxford and built a connection with Randall Joyner and the staff. Sources indicate the Rebels are “right there” with the Vols. Momentum is shifting, and this recruitment is far from settled.”
The Rebels’ first-year head coach, Pete Golding, has taken an aggressive approach to high school recruiting. It has begun to work with a 2027 cycle that ranks 28th in the nation with nine commitments.
Following his unofficial visit with Ole Miss on April 1, Fife spoke highly of the program, telling Simmons, “Ole Miss has been recruiting me hard. I like their defense and how they use their guys.”
The Rebels aren’t the only other team still pushing either, as the defensive lineman is set to take an official visit with Auburn on June 12. Continuing to face pressure from other SEC teams, Tennessee is looking to maintain momentum and keep Fife from landing elsewhere.
