Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby will soon know how long he'll be suspended in the 2026 college football season. The Cincinnati transfer is in the midst of a gambling-related eligibility case with the NCAA, which involves several states, according to Outkick's Trey Wallace.
Sorby's legal team has pushed for an expedited resolution and is expected to get one in the coming days.
According to Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger, Sorsby’s legal challenge to any NCAA punishment will have an “imminent” ruling. “Attorneys representing Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby have notified the NCAA with a request for an expedited resolution to reinstate his eligibility over sports gambling allegations and informing the association that a legal challenge is imminent,” Dellenger wrote on X.
Sorsby is reportedly split between entering the NFL supplemental draft or facing whatever punishment comes. If it's a permanent ban, he'll be headed to the NFL either now or in the draft next year. The big elephant in the room is what's about to happen with Sorsby on a state or even federal level.

As Wallace said in his report, multiple states are looking into the depth of Sorby's betting history. This likely won't end soon and will keep him sidelined while he's under investigation. A quick resolution is one thing for the NCAA, but this is far from crossing the finish line with anything the college legislative body will be announcing.
