Tennessee football will step out of the SEC to play New Mexico State on Nov. 15 in the Vols’ homecoming with hopes of bouncing back after losing to Oklahoma on Nov. 1 and then being off in Week 12.

The Vols (6-3, 3-3 in the SEC) are likely out of contention for the College Football Playoff and are playing now for the best bowl game in the postseason. Tennessee became bowl eligible for the fifth consecutive season by beating Kentucky (56-34) on Oct. 25.

New Mexico State (3-6) extended its losing streak to four games after falling to Kennesaw State 24-21 on Nov. 8. The Aggies fell behind 24-0 in the second quarter of that game before staging a comeback attempt.

The Vols will wear their Smokey Grey uniforms as a tribute to the United States Armed Forces.
