The Oklahoma Sooners are quarterback U in college football, and they’re constantly trying to find the next Heisman.
The Oklahoma Sooners have been relentless in their pursuit of the 2028 quarterback who best fits them. Just this week and last, they began sending out offers to QBs in the class. They just sent out another offer, but this one doesn’t have a rating yet. According to his Twitter, OU sent an offer to Gavin Strang.
Three offers have been sent out so far. QB coach John Kuceyeski issued some offers to what could be his next quarterback after Bowe Bentley and Jameson Roberts. Brady Quinn in South Florida is a 2028 QB they really like. He’s one of the four QBs in the class that they have sent an offer to. However, there are two other guys who are pretty good, too. Their most recent offer, Trey Tagliaferri from New Jersey, can be the real deal with some development.
Gavin Strang is a different kind of QB than the other offers OU has sent out
Strang is a 6’5, 190-pound quarterback from Brentwood, Tennessee, which is just outside of the Nashville area. He’s a different build than the other guys, where he’s pretty tall and thin, and the others have a bit more muscle to them, and are a bit shorter.
And his game is a bit different from some of the other guys’. Strang is definitely more of a stand-in-the-pocket-and-let-it-rip kind of quarterback. Those others are dual threats. That’s not to say Strang can’t run, because he can. However, he’s confident in his pocket awareness enough to stand in the pocket and take those hits after throwing the ball.
Right now, the Sooners have Bowe Bentley in waiting. Then, in the 2027 recruiting class, they have Jameson Roberts, the Mobile, Alabama QB. Now, they’re trying to find their 2028 QB. Bentley, if he sticks around and all goes well, will be the QB in 2027 and 2028 at the very least. In 2029, Roberts could be the quarterback if he decides to stick around. If now, whoever they land in the 2028 recruiting cycle could be that guy.
