Georgia Bulldogs lose out on an elite in-state recruit to a much inferior program, and they could have really used him

The Georgia Bulldogs will just keep chugging along when it comes to their 2027 recruiting class.
The Georgia Bulldogs have the No. 17 recruiting class for the 2027 recruiting cycle. They are below teams they should not be, like Nebraska, UCLA, Penn State, and Clemson. However, they have only seven commits in the cycle right now: one five-star, two four-star, and four three-star. They have fewer commits than many of the teams ahead of them, so it could turn into an all-out fight.
It won’t even out if they continue to lose elite recruits and in-state recruits to much inferior programs. On Monday, that happened once again. This time, four-star offensive lineman Timi Aliu, from Locust Grove in Georgia.
Aliu had Georgia, Florida, and Nebraska in his final three. He chose Nebraska over the two SEC schools. He chose the school that has not won more than seven games in a season since 2016, not to mention one that is much further away. Aliu is every bit 6’4, with broad shoulders and great length. He moves well on his feet for someone at his position in high school.
Aliu is strong, quick, and athletic. He moves well in space, pulls and leads blocks effectively, and uses his power to dominate defenders. While not the ideal size for tackle, he has the quickness and footwork to protect against edge rushers. He could be an elite guard. He’s fast out of his stance, balanced, and finishes blocks with good awareness. They lost out on the No. 20 offensive tackle in the country, and a very good player.
Georgia has other offensive linemen they are still targeting
Four-star OTs Joshua Sam-Epelle, J.J. Brown, and Miller Westerfield are a few of the offensive tackles in the 2027 class that many believe the Bulldogs will find a way to land a commitment from. Georgia currently has Abram Eisenhower, Kelsey Adams, and Ty Johnson committed to offensive linemen. So, losing out on aliu isn’t the end of the world, or even close to it. However, they have been losing out on some players they shouldn’t be.
