We told you that Monday could be a good day for the Virginia Tech Hokies. Indeed, it was, as four-star offensive lineman Kaden Buchanan officially committed to Virginia Tech.

Buchanan, a 6-foot-4, 330-pound interior offensive lineman from Friendship Christian School in Lebanon, Tennessee, picked the Hokies over his other finalists, Kentucky and North Carolina State.

Buchanan is Virginia Tech’s 14th commitment for the 2027 class, and, per 247Sports, the Hokies now have the nation’s 14th-ranked class.

In case you missed it, here’s the video of Buchanan announcing his commitment live on the CBS Sports YouTube page:

Buchanan is the first offensive line commitment for the Hokies in 2027, but he won’t be the last.

While head coach James Franklin has been instrumental in VT’s recruiting turnaround, offensive line coach Matt Moore was the one who put the Hokies over the top in this recruitment.

“I ultimately knew that Virginia Tech was where I wanted to be ever since I stepped on campus there, just the overall feeling that I got there was unlike anywhere else, but it really closed the deal being able to talk to Coach Moore at my house,” Buchanan said, via Evan Watkins of 247Sports.

“Our relationship is amazing,” Buchanan continued. “It’s really development, because offensive line is a developmental position and he wants me to come in and get developed and he wants to coach me. It’s a very good relationship in the sense of I know that he is a really good coach and I know that all three of them together are going to be able to develop me as mush as possible, as good as anybody else in the nation, if not better.”

Buchanan is a road-grader. He’s also not a projection. He’s an interior lineman now and will be in college. Often, we see high school tackles projecting to guard at the next level. Not Buchanan.

A big win for James Franklin and Matt Moore.

Welcome home.
