As we slowly begin to head into the summer, the Ohio State Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day are now beginning to shift their focus towards the 2027 recruiting class.
With a total of 13 commits in the upcoming class, the Buckeyes remain a consensus top-10 program in the upcoming recruiting cycle. But Day’s most recent success on the recruitment trail does not look to be ending anytime soon, as Ohio State could be on the brink of securing another five-star talent this offseason.
According to a social media post on Monday afternoon, 2027 five-star wide receiver and Texas Tech commit Benny Easter Jr. is set to take an official visit to Columbus this week in a last-minute effort for the young talent.

Could Ohio State Flip Easter Jr.?
Easter Jr., after an impressive junior season at Humble Summer Creek High School, has quickly become one of the hottest recruits in the upcoming cycle. As of this month, the highly-touted pass catcher is the No. 7-ranked wide receiver in the 2027 class, as well as a consensus top-eight prospect in the state of Texas, per 247Sports’ Composite.
During his most recent season with the Bulldogs, Easter Jr. proved why he is widely considered a top wideout in the 2027 recruiting class, finishing his junior campaign with 1,309 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns on 89 receptions. At 6-foot, 200 lbs., the extremely polished playmaker possesses a terrific blend of size and speed that makes him a threat at every level of the field. This, along with his natural ball-tracking ability, will help him excel at the college level.
However, in order to secure Easter Jr., Day and his coaching staff must impress the young talent during his official visit this week. Easter Jr. received his offer from the Red Raiders back in November of 2025, and ultimately committed to the up-and-coming program in the same month.
But despite the Buckeyes’ last-minute effort for the Texas native, the tides could shift into Ohio State's favor due to their rich history with wide receiver recruits.
