LSU football head coach Lane Kiffin updated the status of quarterback Sam Leavitt during SEC meetings on Tuesday. The passer is back on the field, preparing for summer camp.
According to Kiffin, Leavitt clocked in at 21 MPH on the GPS recently. He continues to recover from a foot injury that left him sidelined much of 2025 at Arizona State. Based on Kiffin's assessment, the senior should be at full strength or close to it by summer.
Leavitt arrived in Baton Rouge as the transfer portal's highest-rated player. After beginning his career at Michigan State, he transferred to Arizona State and spent two seasons in Tempe.
In 2024, his first season as a starter, Leavitt led the Sun Devils to the College Football Playoff. He threw for 2,885 yards and 24 touchdowns through 13 games. In 2025, Leavitt suffered a season-ending foot injury seven games into the year.
