Tolono Unity dials up big plays to 3A football quarterfinal win over Williamsville

WILLIAMSVILLE — Tolono Unity’s Crewe Eckstein bolted to end zone on the opening possession, and the Rockets scurried to a 42-7 victory over Williamsville in the Class 3A quarterfinals at Paul Jenkins Field on Saturday, Nov. 15.

The No. 4-seeded Rockets (11-1) will meet lllini Prairie Conference rival St. Joseph-Ogden in their second straight semifinal appearance and third in the last four seasons. Unity won the previous Week 4 meeting 40-10 against SJO.

Eckstein reeled off a 73-yard TD run on third-and-short in the game’s first two minutes before the Rockets blew the margin open through the air via senior quarterback Dane Eisenmenger and senior receiver Tyler Henry. They twice connected for a touchdown in the second quarter en route to a stunning 35-0 halftime lead.

Eckstein’s second TD run triggered the running clock just a few minutes after the break.

Eisenmenger finished 13 of 16 for 286 yards and three scores while rushing for another TD. Henry had four catches for 165 yards and two TDs. Senior receiver Tre Hoggard had six catches for 104 yards and a TD. Eckstein ran for 170 yards and two scores on 17 carries.

Williamsville ends its season 11-1.
