The Oklahoma Sooners are a prestigious school with legendary players, but their kids don’t always choose Crimson and Cream.

The Oklahoma Sooners are starting to send out a ton of offers for the 2028 recruiting class. They just sent out three QB offers in the class. That seems to be where a lot of their focus is going, even though 2028 is still far away. If you think 2028 is far away, try 2030.

There is a player in the 2030 class that OU fans will want to land. The best part for OU is that they have an advantage over every other school. This kid is a legacy player, which doesn’t always mean they will land him, but Oklahoma will want to land this kid for obvious reasons. But on Sunday, Adrian Peterson Jr., yes, you read that right, had pictures taken of him and his father during a visit to Texas, wearing burnt orange and all.

That just would not feel right at all. Then again, he’s graduating in 2030, and so much can happen between now and then. The Sooners will be a player by then, but they’re not right now. A few weeks ago, Adrian Peterson Jr. received an offer from Miami. OU has not yet sent an offer to Peterson Jr., but they need to do so soon. I mean, can you imagine his father supporting his son while wearing burnt orange?

Adrian Peterson was as good as it gets

Adrian Peterson played at Oklahoma from 2004 to 2006. He finished his stellar college career with 4,045 rushing yards and 41 rushing touchdowns on 747 carries, adding 42 total touchdowns. As a standout freshman, he set records with 1,925 rushing yards and nine consecutive 100-yard games.

After his exceptional college performance, Peterson went on to become a 7-time Pro Bowler and the 2012 NFL MVP. He finished his 15-season professional career (2007–2021) with 14,918 rushing yards (5th all time), 3,230 carries, and 120 rushing touchdowns in 184 games. He added 2,474 receiving yards, bringing his total to 17,392 scrimmage yards and 126 total touchdowns (tied for 10th all-time). With a legacy like this, Oklahoma cannot afford to hesitate if they hope to keep the next generation of talent in the family.
