Auburn football and head coach Alex Golesh appear to be leaving the door to possibility wide open for one of Tennessee's top 2027 recruits.
Tae Walden, a four-star athlete from Collierville, Tennessee, is just as productive as a wide receiver as he is a defensive back. During his recent weekend visit to the Plains, Walden shared that the Auburn coaching staff views him as a potential two-way player, which brings Walden a sense of comfort in his consideration of Auburn.
"I don't know what I want to do yet, so for them to be all in on me possibly playing both ways is helping them a lot," Walden said via Christian Clemente of Auburn Undercover.
Walden made an impact on both sides of the football last season for the Collierville High School Dragons as an 11th grader. He led the team in receiving by hauling in 42 passes for 912 yards and 10 scores while recording 28 tackles with five interceptions and 17 pass deflections on defense. His 6-foot-2, 165-pound frame is perfect for both positions and opens the possibility for him to be a vital piece of Auburn's future rosters.
Walden is the No. 63 overall recruit for the 2027 recruiting cycle, and is the No. 3 overall recruit from Tennessee according to 247Sports. Walden included Auburn in his top 10 schools in April, and plans to take official visits to several SEC schools, including Georgia, LSU, and Missouri, during June.
