MM 6.1: Maryland football lands new batch of 2027 commitments
NCAA Football: Villanova at Maryland

With the transfer window coming to a close, Marland football recruiters have diverted their attention to adding to their 2027 freshman class. The Terps found moderate success, bringing in a new group of prospects from Friday through Sunday.

Offensive lineman Abdus Kone is the only unrated recruit in Maryland’s 2027 class thus far, hailing from North Shore High School in Houston. Playing primarily from the tackle position, Kone is one of three 2027 recruits hailing from Texas.

Three-star running back Terrance Grant Jr. now sits as the highest-ranked recruit in Maryland’s 2027 class. Grant played for high schools in Nevada and Texas before transferring to DeMatha Catholic in Hyattsville, Maryland, for his senior season, and ranks as the 49th-best running back in his class nationally.

Offensive lineman Caleb Canty committed to Maryland Friday, but still has official visits scheduled with Oklahoma State and Memphis in June. The three-star, 285-pounder comes to College Park from McCalla, Alabama, after passing on offers from 21 other schools.

Three-star safety Kevin Jackson looks to enter his name into the long list of successful Terp defensive backs. Jackson committed Friday but is still slated for an official visit with Maryland Thursday. He received offers from Big Ten rivals in Iowa and UCLA.

William Jackson, a three-star quarterback from Lake Minneola, Florida, rounds out the Terps’ weekend haul. Jackson stands just under 6-foot-5 and weighs in at 196 pounds, making him an imposing presence under center. The quarterback was personally recruited by offensive coordinator Clint Trickett and committed to Maryland Saturday.

The Terps currently tout eight players in their 2027 recruiting class, as they look to search for more valuable pieces in the coming weeks.
