Lane Kiffin and his staff have made wide receiver Xavier Sabb a top priority in the 2027 recruiting class. With official visits underway, the LSU Tigers hosted the Glassboro, New Jersey Native in Baton Rouge on Friday.
Standing at 6-foot-0 and 195 pounds, Sabb is a five-star recruit, the No. 4 wide receiver and the No. 22 player in the nation, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. He’s coming off an impressive junior season at Glassboro High School, recording 59 receptions for 896 yards and 13 touchdowns.
He also lined up at safety, accumulating 15 tackles, two tackles for loss, four interceptions and two pass deflections. Rivals Greg Biggins notes that he could “get snaps on both sides of the ball.”
After spending time in Baton Rouge, the Tigers have become a true threat to land a wide receiver. Rivals’ national recruiting analyst, Sam Spiegelman, writes that LSU is beginning to pick up momentum for Sabb.
“LSU is surging with Sabb, and from speaking with sources with the blue-chipper over the weekend, the Tigers are going to be a factor in this recruitment moving forward,” Spiegelman wrote.
Kiffin and his staff are going up against a handful of top teams, though. The five-star has scholarship offers from the Alabama Crimson Tide, Penn State Nittany Lions, Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines.
This was just his first time on campus, though, meaning LSU made a strong first impression. The Tigers are hoping to make Sabb the latest addition to a growing 2027 cycle.
So far, they’ve landed five commitments, ranking fourth in the SEC and 11th in the nation. Sabb could be the second wide receiver in that group, joining four-star Ah’Mari Stevens.
