The revival of EA Sports ‘College Football’ video game has been an overwhelming success the last two years.
In fact, the ‘College Football 25’ game became the best-selling American football video game, topping “Madden NFL 07,” and the second-best selling sports video game in the U.S., right behind “NBA 2K21,” in dollar mount.
And while it doesn’t generate as much buzz as who’s on the “Madden” cover each month, seeing which college football stars get picked for the “College Football” cover has become an anticipated event for fans.
Thanks to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos, fans now know who will grace the 2027 cover: Oregon quarterback Dante Moore, Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney, and Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy.
All three players are among the best in the country, and it can be argued that each is among the three best players at their position nationally.
Moore threw for 3,565 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions last season while leading the Ducks to a 13-2 record and semifinal appearance in the College Football Playoff.
Lacy ranked third in the country in rushing, racking up 1,567 yards and 24 touchdowns. Conversely, Toney led the nation with 109 receptions for 1,211 yards, and 10 touchdowns.
“It’s a blessing,” Moore told On3 about landing on the cover. “Many times, as a kid, you played multiple games that have cover athletes. As a kid, you dream about being on there one day. And when they gave me the phone call and talked to my team about it, I was excited. It was a great shoot, had a great time. I’m excited for the drop.”
USC quarterback Jayden Maiava, Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore, and Indiana national championship-winning head coach Curt Cignetti are on the cover of the deluxe edition of the game.
The 2025 iteration of the game — the first one put out by EA Sports after over a decade-long hiatus due to name, image, and likeness litigation — featured Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, Colorado receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, and Michigan running back Donovan Edwards.
The 2026 game featured Ohio State wide receiver and projected 2027 top-three pick Jeremiah Smith and Alabama wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams.
