Mike Elko and the Texas A&M Aggies have started the month of June red hot on the recruiting trail. The Aggies landed their second commitment of the month on Tuesday, with four-star edge Frederick Ards III joining their 2027 recruiting class.
Ards is from Orlando, Florida, and picked the Aggies over the South Carolina Gamecocks, Florida Gators, FSU Seminoles, and Alabama Crimson Tide. He is the fifth defensive lineman they have landed already, joining five-star edge Zyron Forstall, four-star defensive lineman Myels Smith and Elijha Patmon, and four-star edge Kaden McCarty.
He is ranked as the No. 76 overall player and No. 10 edge in the Rivlas industry ranking. He is also the No. 7 player from Florida.
Ards officially visited Texas A&M over the weekend and decided to go ahead and commit to the Aggies, despite having official visits scheduled with his other contenders. He is their second commitment from the weekend’s official visitors, joining three-star linebacker Aston Whiteside, who committed on Monday.
He is coming off a strong junior season at Jones High School, finishing with 80 tackles, 13.0 tackles for loss, 11.0 sacks, and one forced fumble. His commitment only cements Texas A&M’s recruiting class as the best the country, which now has 17 members.
