Assistant coaches are massive in the recruiting process, and Jon Sumrall’s staff is performing at a high level.

The Florida Gators’ first major recruiting weekend just finished and head coach Jon Sumrall already landed one commitment in four-star linebacker Ja’Bios Smith. Landing him secured the first player at the position in the class of 2027.

One spot where the Gators are really strong in the class of 2027 is offensive line, and it got a little bit stronger on Tuesday morning. Offensive line coach Phil Trautwein landed his fourth top-10 offensive lineman in four-star offensive tackle Kennedee Jackson.

Four-Star Gators Commit OT Kennedee Jackson

  • Jackson is the No. 100 overall recruit and the No. 8 offensive tackle, according to Rivals.
  • Fromn Lithonia, Georgia, Jackson becomes the fourth player committed from the state of Georgia.
  • Jackson is the fourth commit on the offensive line for the Gators, joining five-star Maxwell Hiller, four-star Peyton Miller, and four-star Elijah Hutcheson

Florida Gators land four-star OT Kennedee Jackson

It’s a massive coup for the Gators to land Jackson. They missed out on four-star OT Layton von Brandt to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and they end up landing Jackson. It’s far from a consolation prize, either. Jackson is an excellent recruit, ranking in the top 10 of his position at No. 8 and the 100th overall recruit per Rivals.

He adds to a fantastic group of recruits on the offensive line, which is led by five-star Maxwell Hiller. Trautwein has done an incredible job at recruiting the offensive line, putting together one of the best classes in program history. We know that Trautwein has a great eye for talent, and he understands how to be successful at the college level, being a starting left tackle for Urban Meyer’s national champion Gators.

Jackson is the 18th commitment in the class of 2027 for Sumrall.
