After the UCLA Bruins saw their pursuit of three-star quarterback recruit Dane Weber fall to the wayside last week, UCLA has scheduled an official visit with four-star Ohio State commit Brady Edmunds.

Edmunds has been committed to Ohio State since December of last year but that hasn’t stopped the Bruins from showing interest in the Huntington Beach native. New UCLA offensive coordinator Dean Kennedy visited Edmunds at his high school last month so the visit doesn’t come out of thin air.

The visit is scheduled for this weekend in Los Angeles, with Edmunds also having a visit planned in Columbus with the Buckeyes later this month. 247 Sports has Edmunds ranked as the No. 16 quarterback in the class of 2027 and as the No. 24 player in all of California.

New UCLA head coach Bob Chesney has yet to land a major quarterback recruit since taking over the Bruins’ program back in December, with Edmunds having the chance to change that if he decides to stay on the West Coast with UCLA.

Plenty of schools have shown interest in Edmunds, with Georgia, Oregon, Michigan and Texas all having offered the 6’5” quarterback. 247 Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins has high praise for the young QB.

“Uses impressive touch and trajectory when looking deep,” Ivins said of Edmunds. “Likely to need a developmental year or two to get adjusted to the speed of the game, but projects as a potential Power Four starter that can thrive in a vertical passing attack.”

UCLA’s QB outlook beyond 2026 is murky. The Bruins are returning starter Nico Iamaleava but if things go well for UCLA this season, then Iamaleava may be headed to the NFL Draft, leaving the Bruins with an immediate need at quarterback.
