The Ohio State Buckeyes had their first official visit weekend of the offseason, and to say it was star-studded would be an understatement.

The Buckeyes hosted several five-star recruits, including running back David Gabriel-Georges and defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou. The Buckeyes needed a big recruiting weekend, and from all reports, it sounds like it was.

The headliner of it all was Gabriel-Georges, who had all of the hype surrounding him. He stands at just a touch under 6'0" and weighs in at a sturdy 200 pounds. Depending on the service you read, he is a top 15 recruit in the nation, he is in the top-3 at his position, and he is the best high school player in Tennessee.

By all accounts, he is a star and has what it takes to be one of the next great running backs in Columbus. The comparison that he drew from On3's recruiting network was that of former Buckeye Quinshon Judkins.

If he is 80 percent the player that Judkins was at both Ole Miss and Ohio State, he will be a recruit well worth the investment.

He received two crystal balls to Ohio State, and On3 has him at 92 percent going to Ohio State and 8 percent leaning towards Ole Miss.

For the Buckeyes, this is a fascinating offseason. This is the first true recruiting class after Ryan  Day and his staff changed their approach to recruiting and keeping young talent.

Last offseason, they made the fundamental change to put more of an emphasis on veteran players and invest in them, instead of investing in young freshmen who still cost a lot but do not make an impact on the field.

That still seems to be the approach that Day is going to take, but he still is not going to balk at acquiring some of the best talent that he can get his hands on.

The Buckeyes have the luxury of being very selective in terms of who they recruit. They have earned that respect by being so dominant over the years, and now they are seeing the fruits of this labor.

Ohio State had a major weekend last weekend on the campus, one that could help them re-establish their foundation as they continue to move forward. It's only the best for the Buckeyes, and they may have just landed another one of them.
