One day after landing four-star OT Kennedee Jackson, Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall lands another top recruit.

Recruiting for the Florida Gators has been incredible. Head coach Jon Sumrall has been doing an incredible job, and now has landed his third commitment in the past week with four-star defensive lineman Zahmar Tookes. He chose the Gators over the likes of the Penn State Nittany Lions and Nebraska Cornhuskers.

It’s a big win for the Gators to land Tookes, as he is the first four-star among the defensive linemen they have added.

Four-star DL Zahmar Tookes

  • Tookes is the No. 1 overall recruit in the state of New York per Rivals.
  • At 6-3.5 and 260 pounds, Tookes has the right size profile to play on the edge or bulk up and play a 3T/4i.
  • He adds to a fascinating group of recruits on the defensive line.

Rivals is the only one that has Tookes as a four-star recruit, ranking him at No. 182 overall and the No. 20 defensive lineman in the nation. It’s a fascinating group of players for the Gators to bring in, with Sumrall focusing more on high upside value.

Tookes appears to be someone who can put his hand in the dirt, while also being able to play JACK. That kind of versatility would be really nice for Brad White’s defense.

Sumrall now has 19 recruits committed in the 2027 class.
