The Wolverines have landed yet another recruit in the secondary in the 2027 class, as four-star cornerback Blake Jenkins announced his commitment to Michigan on Thursday afternoon. He picked the Wolverines over his four other finalists — Alabama, Texas, SMU and Vanderbilt.
The 6-foot-0.5, 190-pounder hails from Katy, Texas and was offered by Michigan back in February by new cornerbacks coach Jernaro Gilford. He visited Ann Arbor for the first time in April and had positive things to say coming out of that trip.
“I had a great time in Ann Arbor,” Jenkins told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong ($) at the time. “The way the city supports the football program as a whole no matter who you are really stood out to me. I was also impressed by the new staff and the opportunities they’re bringing to the program. Excited to see what the future holds.
“The fanbase is huge!”
Jenkins is expected back in a few weeks for Victor’s Weekend (June 19-21) for his official visit.
247Sports’ Gabe Brooks scouted Jenkins last month and wrote this about him:
– Natural man corner with size and athleticism to match up with outside targets.
– Willing tackler with a lean, wiry frame that can add mass to enhance finishing strength.
– Attacks the screen game.
– Displays sudden athleticism in press situations, whether covering short-to-intermediate routes or turning and running downfield.
– Ideally would see more ball production, but capable of finding the ball in the deep third.
– Frame, athleticism, and technique excel in press coverage, but room to improve awareness in off and zone situations.
– Forward-playing conviction vs. perimeter run and screen games can periodically cause some less-than-ideal pursuit angles.
– Live evaluations have been strong in multiple scenarios.
– P4-caliber corner prospect who owns the potential to become an island technician.
The Wolverines now have three four-star prospects in the secondary in the 2027 class with Jenkins, Darius Johnson (cornerback) and Tavares Harrington (nickel). Michigan also holds the commitment from legacy prospect Charles Woodson Jr., a three-star safety. The Wolverines will also continue recruiting five-star cornerback Josh Dobson, who is set to officially visit Ann Arbor the weekend of June 12, and four-star cornerback Monsanna Torbert Jr.
Jenkins is ranked No. 38 in the state of Texas, No. 29 at his position and No. 260 overall in his class, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. As a junior in 2025, Jenkins compiled 26 total tackles, two interceptions and one pass breakup. Check out his top highlights below.
