Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin’s name has been in plenty of rumors involving the Florida Gators’ opening.
When Florida fired Billy Napier in the middle of October, Kiffin’s name immediately surfaced in the rumors. The Ole Miss coach was the favorite to be the next Gators coach, and the latest odds still had him as the favorite.
In Week 12, those rumblings picked up as No. 7 Ole Miss faced Florida in Oxford. Kiffin’s team got the 34-24 win, marking the third straight season with double-digit wins.
Leading up to the game, Kiffin was asked about his future with the program, and those questions resurfaced after the win.
The Ole Miss coach left no doubt about his feelings towards his current program, per Andrea Adelson of ESPN.
“I love what we’re doing here,” Kiffin said. “Today was awesome. To even talk about it right now would be so disrespectful to our players and how well they played today. We’ve got a lot of things going here. Doing really well, and I love it here.”
Kiffin also said his team wasn’t distracted.
“I don’t think we were distracted; 538 yards today for an offense seems pretty focused.”
It seems that Ole Miss fans also want Kiffin to stay, as they were chanting “We want Lane” in the closing minute of the game.
There are plenty of reasons for Florida to be interested in Kiffin, but once again, the Ole Miss coach seems content.
