Momentum continues for Ohio State with five-star running back
NCAA Football: CFP National Championship-Ohio State Practice

Ohio State’s longtime courtship of running back target David Gabriel Georges is looking pretty worthwhile. Just a week after his official visit, Gabriel Georges has been a constant topic of discussion, and all signs point towards his time in Columbus being all that he and his family had hoped for.

Insight to how the Buckeyes are being viewed coming off of the visit was felt again on Thursday, when Sam Spiegelman of Rivals placed his RPM pick for Ohio State to be the landing spot. Positive momentum and smoke continuing to surface, it’s hard not to get your hopes up here.

Carlos Locklyn and this entire staff have made it clear that they are not interested in looking elsewhere for the running back in their 2027 class until they hear their fate from Gabriel Georges himself. A strategy that very well may pay off come July when he shares his commitment decision, if the vibes remain the same, then Ohio State has their five-star wrapped up and ready to go.

Ohio State offers to 2028 Iowa OL

New names and new offers keep coming as Thursday saw Ohio State get in the mix for a new offensive line prospect out of West Des Moines, Iowa. Taking to social media to share the latest news in his recruitment, the Buckeyes have officially begun their pursuit of Downling Catholic product, Carter Barrett.

A 6-foot-6, 305 pound offensive tackle, Barrett is already regarded as one of the top players at his position in the 2028 class, and Ohio State taking notice isn’t a surprise. The size and ability for just a high school sophomore, the development he could continue to see over the next two prep seasons is exactly why he’s seeing this much attention.

Holding 20-plus offers to his name from the likes of Alabama, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee, and a host of others, the high four-star ranking makes sense. The No. 134 player nationally and 16th best tackle in the class per the 247Sports Composite, Barrrett will be one several programs put efforts towards — and especially the in-state Iowa Hawkeyes.

Still, Ohio State being on his list tends to attract attention, and the goal from here will be seeing if Tyler Bowen can get him on campus as soon as this summer.

Buckeyes make tops schools for five-star OT

Sticking with the theme of 2028 offensive tackle targets, the Buckeyes received positive news when they made the short list for five-star prospect, Austin Attalah. A 6-foot-8, 270 pound athlete, Attalah is the No. 30 player nationally and the third best offensive tackle in the class per the 247Sports Composite. 30 offers to his name, narrowing it down to just eight shows this recruitment is in motion.

Making the cut for Attalah includes the likes of Alabama, Cal, Ohio State, Penn State, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and USC. A Southern California native, seeing USC on the list isn’t breaking news, but the three Texas schools raises some interests as well.

In this type of recruitment, the talent and five-star status will have top suitors ponying up to pay top dollar and Ohio State shouldn’t ever be counted out. Right where you want to be, the Buckeyes continue to place their name on this top schools list and with that many players keeping them in mind, it tends to work out fairly well.

Quick Hits

Never too early to start recruiting quarterbacks of the future, Ohio State will play host to Allen, Texas native Ty Snell on June 18 as he shared his upcoming visit plans on Thursday. An unranked player via his 247Sports profile only due to age, his nearly 30 offers from the likes of Florida State, Georgia, Oregon, Texas A&M, and Ohio State tell you all you need to know about how good he really is.
