After a recent hot streak in May continued into June this week, the Michigan Wolverines now own a Top 10 ranked class in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

Following the commitment of four-star cornerback Blake Jenkins on Thursday night, Kyle Whittingham and company now own the No. 10 recruiting class on the Rivals Industry Ranking. Additionally, the Wolverines are at No. 7 on the 247Sports composite.

This recent string of commitments started at the beginning of May when four-star in-state offensive lineman Jakari Lipsey announced his pledge. Just seven days later, four-star edge rusher Jayce Brewer gave the news that he was committing as well.

Michigan then gained four commitments in the span of four days from four-star wide receiver Quentin Burrell on May 13, four-star defensive lineman Xavier Muhammad on May 14, three-star safety Charles Woodson Jr. on May 15, and four-star running back Tyson Robinson on May 16.

Just two days after Robinson’s announcement, four-star cornerback Darius Johnson kicked things off that week by committing to the Wolverines that Monday. Three-star running back Lundon Hampton committed on that Thursday, four-star defensive back Tavares Harrington announced his pledge on Friday, and four-star tight end Colt Lumpris flipped from Alabama to Michigan on that Saturday.

Finally, three-star linebacker Brayden Watson committed on May 29, while Jenkins committed on June 4.

The beautiful thing here — other than all these commitments — is that Michigan is just getting started. There are still a ton of top targets remaining, including five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, four-star wide receiver Dakota Guerrant, four-star tight end Anthony Cartwright III, four-star edge rusher Ifeanyi Emedobi, four-star offensive lineman Lincoln Mageo and many more.

A number of people, myself included, were skeptical that Whittingham and company would be able to recruit players across the country — as well as in the state of Michigan — at a high level. So far, they are proving us wrong, as the Wolverines hold commitments from players hailing from…

  • Michigan (4)
  • Texas (3)
  • Illinois (2)
  • California (1)
  • Florida (1)
  • Georgia (1)
  • Indiana (1)
  • Mississippi (1)
  • New Jersey (1)
  • Utah (1)

So far so good for Michigan’s 2027 recruiting class, and there is plenty of room for more players to commit prior to the early signing period in December.
