Lane Kiffin is getting some great news on the recruiting trail, ahead of his first season as LSU football’s head coach. LSU picked up yet another commit on Sunday. Running back Brennen Lacey has pledged his services to LSU, per Rivals.

“Trust God, trust the process and keep grinding,” Lacey said after announcing his decision.

The Class of 2027 running back had offers from several schools including Notre Dame, Florida and Miami. He is joined by four-star edge KJ Green, who also committed to the Tigers on Sunday.

Lacey is listed as a three-star recruit, per Rivals. He plays his high school football in the state of Texas. The running back recently visited LSU.

“They see something in me,” Lacey told Rivals. “And Coach Kevin (Smith) wants to extract that talent out and dominate. He’s big on developing and I believe that he can develop me.”

The Tigers are led by Kiffin, who has had great success as a college head coach. He is about to start his first season with the Tigers, after replacing Brian Kelly. Kiffin coached previously at Ole Miss, leading that program to the College Football Playoff in 2025.

The head coach also spent time at USC, Tennessee and Florida Atlantic as the head coach. He was an assistant under Nick Saban at Alabama. Kiffin also briefly coached the Oakland Raiders in the NFL.

Kiffin understands the expectations are high at LSU. He is pursuing some of the top high school players in the country, to help him win in Baton Rouge.

“The program continues to pursue a collection of blue-chip recruits in the 2027 cycle, including No. 1 wide receiver Easton Royal (Texas commit) and fellow five-stars Caden Moss (No. 13) and Xavier Sabb (No. 18),” ESPN reported.

Kiffin coaches his first game for the Tigers on September 5. LSU faces off against Clemson in that contest.
