The Texas Tech Red Raiders landed transfer quarterback Brendan Sorsby this offseason. He played for the Cincinnati Bearcats last season. Texas Tech made the playoffs a season ago and they felt like they upgraded at the quarterback position. Sorsby had gambling issues and there was no doubt that his 2026 college football season was in jeopardy.
Well, Pete Thamel of espn.com reported on his Twitter page on Monday morning, “NEWS: A judge in district court in Lubbock County, Texas, has granted the injunction requested by Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby. He’s set to be eligible for the 2026 season.” This is stunning news in the college football world. Sorsby is addicted to gambling and gambled on his own team in the past. There is no doubt that something seems fishy over here with Sorsby being eligible for next season. However, he is going to be suspended for the first two games of the 2026 college football season.
