Alabama's 2027 recruiting class continues to gain momentum.

On Monday, running back Tai Phillips announced his commitment to Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide, giving Alabama another talented playmaker in what is quickly becoming one of the nation's most intriguing recruiting classes.

The South Carolina native chose Alabama over several other programs, including Florida State and Stanford, adding another important piece to a class that has already seen significant momentum over the last few weeks.

Phillips may currently be listed as a three-star prospect, but his production on the field speaks for itself. During his junior season at Cape Fear High School in North Carolina, the 5-foot-10, 195-pound running back rushed for 919 yards and 12 touchdowns on just 116 carries. His combination of power, vision and explosiveness helped make him one of the more productive backs in the region.

Now preparing for his senior season at Irmo High School in South Carolina, Phillips will have an opportunity to continue raising his recruiting profile before eventually arriving in Tuscaloosa.

His commitment gives Alabama its second running back pledge in the 2027 class, joining four-star standout Nigel Newkirk. Together, the duo gives the Crimson Tide a strong foundation at the position and reflects Alabama's continued emphasis on building depth in the backfield.

Phillips also becomes the 10th commitment in Alabama's 2027 recruiting class, which continues to grow under DeBoer and his staff. The group already features several notable names, including quarterback Elijah Haven, quarterback Trent Seaborn, tight end Michael Nnabifue, tight end Oakley Keegan, linebacker Kenneth Simon II and edge rusher Stevan Thornton III.

The commitment comes on the heels of a busy recruiting stretch for Alabama. The Crimson Tide recently landed kicker Luke Cody and flipped Nnabifue from Syracuse following an official visit to Tuscaloosa. Alabama has also continued to host top prospects from across the country as the summer recruiting season heats up.

One of the biggest storylines surrounding Alabama's recruiting efforts has been the staff's ability to build relationships early. While rankings will continue to change over the next year, the coaching staff has shown a willingness to identify prospects they believe fit the culture and future of the program before the rest of the country catches up.

That's exactly the type of commitment Phillips represents.

His film showcases a physical runner who isn't afraid to finish runs through contact, but he also possesses enough speed to create explosive plays when he reaches the second level. Those traits have made him a valuable addition to an already impressive class.

With plenty of time remaining before the 2027 signing cycle, Alabama's recruiting class will continue to evolve. For now, though, the Crimson Tide has added another talented piece to the future of the program, and the momentum on the recruiting trail shows no signs of slowing down.

As DeBoer continues building Alabama's next generation of talent, Monday's commitment from Tai Phillips is another reminder that the future in Tuscaloosa remains bright.
