Missouri football ranking. Here’s where Tigers landed in national polls after beating MSU

Missouri football climbed three spots to No. 21 in the updated US LBM Coaches Poll on Sunday, Nov. 16, after the Tigers ended a short losing streak with a win over Mississippi State.

The Tigers (7-3, 3-3 SEC) beat the Bulldogs 49-27 on Saturday on Faurot Field behind a 300-yard day from running back Ahmad Hardy. Mizzou had lost three of its past four games beforehand, which eliminated the Tigers from competing for a spot in the College Football Playoff field.

In the most recent coaches poll, Missouri moved ahead of Louisville, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh — all of which dropped out of the top 25.

Missouri has finished back-to-back seasons with double-digit win totals and ranked among the top-25 in every major national poll and the College Football Playoff rankings.

The third CFP rankings of the 2025 college football season will be revealed Tuesday night. Mizzou was not included among the most recent top 25 this past Tuesday, Nov. 11.

There was a little bit of a shakeup in the top five after a couple weeks without any change.

The top three remained unchanged. Ohio State is still No. 1, Indiana was No. 2 and Texas A&M was No. 3, making the Aggies the top-ranked SEC outfit.

But after a loss to MU’s next opponent in Oklahoma, Alabama dropped from No. 4 to 10. Georgia moved up to No. 4 and Oregon rounded out the top five.

There are now nine SEC teams currently in the coaches’ top 25 in the updated rankings.

Elsewhere in the SEC, Ole Miss was ranked No. 6. Oklahoma was No. 8, Alabama was No. 10, Vanderbilt was No. 13, Texas was No. 18, Tennessee was No. 20 and Mizzou was No. 21.

Missouri is one of three three-loss teams that is still ranked in this week’s coaches poll, joining Tennessee and Texas.

None of the seven teams Missouri has defeated this season were receiving votes on Nov. 2. The Tigers do not have a win over a team with a winning record this season.

Mizzou’s next game is against Oklahoma on Saturday, Nov. 22 in Norman, Oklahoma. The Sooners beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa this past Saturday and now are firmly in the race for a CFP berth.

Mizzou coach Eli Drinkwitz is one of the 67 participating head coaches in the coaches poll.
