Arizona gets commitment from 3-star Texas LB Davon Smith

The Arizona Wildcats continue to reap the fruits of their labor during the Official Visit Season. After receiving a commitment on Sunday, Brent Brennan added another member to their 2027 class on Wednesday.
Davon Smith, a 3-star linebacker from Texas, announced his decision to commit to the ‘Cats.
Smith, who plays at Westfield High School in Houston, is the third member of his squad to become a member of Arizona’s class. The other two members are defensive lineman Logan Draper and safety Jaylin Oliver. Smith, who comes in at 6-foot and around 220 pounds, has had a productive high school career. He played 16 games combined during his freshman and sophomore seasons. During that time, he racked up 78 tackles, 8 for a loss, 2 QB Hurries, a pick, 5 PBUs and 4 fumble recoveries. He really broke out his junior season. He tallied 118 tackles, 24 TFLs, 2.5 sacks, 6 QB Hurries, 3 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles.
Smith has had a busy time on the recruiting front, with 22 reported offers. He chose the the Wildcats over Arizona State, Colorado, Houston, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh, Oregon State and Utah to name a few.
He is ranked as a 3-star in both of 247Sports’ ranking systems. Internally, Smith comes in as the No. 126 LB and the No. 182 player from Texas. In the Composite, he comes in as No. 1,146 nationally, the No. 100 LB and the 147th best player in Texas.
