LSU football trending to miss on Louisiana's top offensive lineman

LSU football has had an up-and-down start to the summer recruiting period, marked by a decommitment from five-star edge rusher Jaiden Bryant, followed by a quick fix when KJ Green, a fellow five-star, committed to the Tigers a few days later. 247Sports actually ranks Green higher than Bryant, listing him as the No. 2 edge rusher and No. 6 overall player in the 2027 class. Bryant is their No. 3 edge rusher and No. 20 overall recruit, though he does outrank Green on 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Either way, edge rusher isn’t — or, at least, shouldn’t be — at the top of LSU’s priorities this summer. On the other hand, one position that is particularly important to bolster this cycle is the offensive line, a unit that was fixed in the transfer portal but will need further retooling after the upcoming season. The Tigers have been in hot pursuit of one member of the 2027 class who could ease those concerns: Louisiana native Albert Simien.
Simien is the No. 14 overall player and No. 2 IOL in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. Simien was in Baton Rouge for a visit in April, one that reportedly went fairly well, but according to Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman, the Louisiana native is unlikely to end up a Tiger.
“After a 10th trip back to College Station for his official visit earlier this month, I still view the Aggies as the team to beat as Simien’s recruitment winds down,” Spiegelman wrote Wednesday. Spiegelman has a 70% confidence level that the Aggies will land the top offensive line recruit and lists Notre Dame as their biggest threat in Simien’s recruitment, not LSU.
We’re still a long way from National Signing Day, and Lane Kiffin has always found a way to convince recruits to change their minds, but this early update doesn’t offer much confidence in LSU’s chances of landing Simien in the end.
