The Tennessee Volunteers already have a stud 2027 wide receiver committed in Kesean Bowman, but the program is still looking to add another big-time playmaker to its recruiting class.

The Tennessee Vols already have a commitment from one of the top 2027 wide receivers in the nation in four-star Kesean Bowman (No. 11 wide receiver in the nation).

Tennessee, however, isn’t done looking for elite wide receiver talent in the 2027 class.

The Vols were in the mix for five-star wide receivers Easton Royal and Eric McFarland, but neither have Tennessee among their final schools as they enter decision mode.

According to On3’s Chad Simmons, the Vols have turned their attention to 2027 four-star wide receiver Osani Gayles, who is expected to announce his commitment on June 27.

Gayles, 6-foot/185 pounds from Tracy, CA (he attends IMG Academy in Florida), is rated by 247Sports as the No. 7 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 34 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class (which means he just missed being a five-star recruit).

The talented wide receiver is scheduled to take an official visit to Tennessee this weekend. He took an official visit to Alabama during the final weekend of May.

“Alabama has generated plenty of buzz with IMG Academy receiver Osani Gayles,” reported Simmons. “Tennessee wants to change that. The California native spent last weekend at Washington and now heads to Knoxville before a scheduled trip to Notre Dame. The Volunteers have consistently remained in the conversation, so we will see how hard they push this weekend.”

Vols wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope is one of the best recruiters in the business. He’s won head-to-head recruiting battles against LSU, Georgia, and numerous other programs. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he lands Gayles over Alabama and Notre Dame, who also looms as a threat.

247Sports recently pointed to Alabama as the favorite for Gayles, but it sounds like Pope and the Vols will do all they can to flip this battle in Tennessee’s favor this weekend.
