For many, one huge problem that Penn State has seen with their 2027 recruiting cycle is the lack of a player they have had to fight for aggressively. Especially when it comes to the Pennsylvania area, they have left a lot to be desired in terms of landing homegrown talent. In fact, another new head coach in Jon Sumrall at Florida has taken great pleasure from snatching several key prospects from under their noses. However, the stage is set for another recruiting battle, with Penn State set to get the first shot.

While Elijah Guertin is a Rhode Island native, he is a four star edge rusher Penn State should have a legitimate shot at. He would be a much needed fit up front for the Blue and White's defense with his size and speed combo. He actually did end up taking an official visit to Gainesville and Florida last week, when Campbell was hosting his own in Happy Valley, but did not determine his future. So with Penn State expecting to host him soon, their odds could skyrocket.

According to Rivals Predictions, Penn State are favored to acquire Guertin with a 26.8 percent chance. Still, if there have been lessons to learn, it's that Florida and other SEC powerhouses don't rest on their laurels. Those programs have already wrested away Pennsylvania products and several other Northeastern prospects as well. For Campbell, Guertin should be his number one priority to ensure no one snatches his signature.
