One of the top running backs in the 2027 class will be making the trip to Austin during the weekend of June 19th-21st. Four-star recruit Landen Williams-Callis has committed to a visit with the Longhorns. While Steve Sarkisian and his staff face plenty of competition, the latest update from Callis is encouraging news.

Currently, Callis is ranked as the third-best running back in his class by 247Sports. They also rank Randle High star as the fourth-best player from Texas and the 28th-best player in the nation. Due to his high ranking, Callis has been a popular player for teams looking to build an elite running back room.

During the recruiting process, Callis has received offers from some of the nation's best programs. That list includes Oregon, Texas A&M, Indiana, SMU, Houston, Ohio State, Alabama, Missouri, Arizona, Florida State, and Georgia. With no commitment date set, that list could continue to grow the longer the Lone Star native stays on the market.

The heavy interest comes as no surprise, given how the talented running back performed as a junior. He finished the 2025 campaign with 3,502 rushing yards while averaging 10.8 yards per carry. Callis also found the end zone 59 times and caught 24 passes for 266 yards. Regardless of the opponent, he was a human highlight reel.

If Callis were to join the Longhorns, he would be part of a group full of stars. Over the last few months, Sarkisian and his staff have secured a commitment from one five-star recruit in Easton Royal. He will be joined by multiple four-star recruits, including Cameron Hall, Kasi Currie, Karnell James, Brock Williams, and Derwin Fields. That group will be tasked with bringing a title to Austin.

As Callis weighs his options, the Longhorns will be a program to watch. Next weekend will provide Sarkisian with a prime opportunity to show one of the best players on the market in the nation why his college career should start in the burnt orange.
