The recruiting process keeps chugging along for the UCLA Bruins. UCLA currently owns a Top-10 2027 recruiting class for new head coach Bob Chesney’s first full recruiting cycle after being hired over from James Madison last winter.

Since joining the Big Ten Conference in 2024, UCLA has struggled to move the ball on the ground but they’ve tried to address that problem on the recruiting trail. Last week Chesney and the Bruins added their fourth offensive lineman for their 2027 class, and this week UCLA has hosted a pair of four-star running back recruits.

The Bruins hosted both 2028 recruit Carter Hanson and 2027 UCLA commit RB/WR/CB recruit Kingston Celifie for visits. Both recruits are highly regarded, with Hanson the No. 16 running back in his class with Celifie as the No. 29 ATH. UCLA has already earned a commitment from three-star recruits Jayshon Gibson and Duece Jones-Drew

Whether Celifie ends up or wide receiver, running back or even on defense, he’ll give the Bruins another exciting young player for the 2027 Bruins.

Hanson and Celifie are both California recruits too, with Celifie hailing from Calabasas while Hanson is from Bakersfield. Under Chesney, UCLA has really stepped up their in-house recruiting, attracting the best local players, including five-star cornerback JuJu Johnson who committed to the Bruins out of Long Beach.

It hasn’t just been running backs that UCLA have been recruiting for the offensive backfield, with the Bruins offering quarterbacks Brooks Herman (Class of 2030), Titus Huard (2028) and Brady Edmonds (2027).
