The dust has settled from Week 12 of college football, which saw Notre Dame get jumped in both the US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Poll.
It wasn’t the idea situation for the Irish, even with a more than solid win over a then-ranked Pittsburgh team. Notre Dame’s didn’t move in either ranking, but the one that is the most important will be revealed on Tuesday night. Sure, perception helps with the Coaches and AP Poll, but the College Football Playoff rankings hold the most weight.
Notre Dame mirrored both polls last week in its CFP rankings, and the biggest question is if that will happen again this week. I tend to think that it will be the case, and while it might seem like the committee doesn’t think of the Irish as highly, that really isn’t the case.
Oklahoma went on the road and beat a previously No. 4 Alabama, and with that very good resume builder, they jumped over Notre Dame in the poll and most likely will do the same on Tuesday night. I really don’t think there’s too much of this that the Irish have to read into, it’s just the ebbs and flows of a season. Notre Dame is currently in the field of 12, and at this point, that’s all that really matters.
