Nebraska’s recruiting momentum continued this week with the additions of wide receiver Justyn Lindsay and linebacker Caleb Green, two under-the-radar prospects who may not generate national headlines but fit the developmental blueprint Matt Rhule and his staff have consistently targeted.
Assistant Head Coach Jamar Mozee once again played a major role in securing both commitments, leveraging his deep Kansas City-area connections to help bring more Midwest talent into the fold. While neither player arrives with five-star fanfare, both possess traits that give Nebraska’s coaching staff something to work with as they continue building the roster for the future.
Lindsay, a 6-foot-3, 175-pound wide receiver, brings intriguing size-speed potential to the position. The three-star prospect has legitimate vertical speed and the frame to continue developing physically once he arrives in Lincoln. Green, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker, gives Nebraska another physical presence in the front seven after flipping his commitment from Missouri.
Wide Receiver Recruiting Continues to Evolve
The additions come during a turbulent stretch for Nebraska’s receiver recruiting efforts.
The Huskers suffered a significant setback when four-star wide receiver Matthew Gregory unexpectedly committed to UCLA. Gregory had been widely viewed as a Nebraska lean heading into his decision, making the announcement a disappointing result for the staff. The loss was compounded by the decommitment of Kaden Howard, who reopened his recruitment before ultimately choosing Georgia Tech.
Even so, Nebraska remains active at the position and there is plenty of time before signing day. The receiver board remains fluid, and with both high school prospects and transfer portal options available, the Huskers are unlikely to stand pat.
Missouri Becoming a Valuable Recruiting Territory
One of the more encouraging developments in Nebraska recruiting has been the program’s growing foothold in the Kansas City area.
For years, the region has produced Power Four talent that Nebraska struggled to consistently attract. Since Mozee’s arrival, however, that narrative has begun to change.
Players such as Williams Nwaneri, Keelan Smith, and Jamir Conn are expected to become major contributors for the Huskers, while Mozee’s son, Isaiah Mozee, is already firmly established as one of the centerpieces of Nebraska’s future offensive plans.
Lindsay and Green may not carry the same recruiting rankings as some of those names, but maintaining strong relationships in Kansas City is critical for Nebraska’s long-term success. Winning consistently in the Midwest means identifying talent early and building pipelines that can produce contributors year after year.
Looking Ahead
Nebraska’s 2027 class now sits at 18 commitments, good for No. 16 nationally and seventh in the Big Ten according to 247Sports. There is still room for additional additions, and the staff would undoubtedly make space should elite targets Ahmad Hudson or Albert Simien decide to join the class.
The foundation of the class is already impressive, with many analysts viewing it as one of Nebraska’s strongest recruiting groups in recent memory. The next step, however, is turning recruiting wins into on-field production.
Matt Rhule and his staff have assembled talent. Now they must continue proving they can develop it. If they do, commitments like Lindsay and Green may eventually be remembered as much more than depth additions.
