Deion Sanders did a solid job of temporarily turning around Colorado Football. After a 1-11 season in 2022 that saw Colorado fire their coaching staff, Sanders showed up. It was a 4-8 first year, but then a 9-4 season in 2024 and a top 25 ranking. Then, Sheduer Sanders and Travis Hunter graduated, leading to a disastrous 2025 season for Sanders and Colorado.

Now, Sanders is talking about the future for Colorado, per ESPN.

Sanders stepped away from the program earlier this spring due to blood clots, but he is back and says he is “feeling great. I’ve got my old swagger back.”

Sanders also believes another turnaround is coming for the Buffaloes, as he has won battles in both the transfer portal and recruiting trail.

“I have everybody in that locker room because we said we want them,” he said. “Because I sat there and watched tape on them and said, ‘That’s who I want, that’s what I want. Let’s go get them.’”

It will be a new look team for Colorado this year, as they brought in 43 players via the transfer portal, giving them the 28th-ranked transfer class. Sanders has often used the transfer portal heavily, something that he has been criticized for in the past.

“Now, everybody’s doing the same thing that I did. But it was crazy back then, right?” Sanders said. “A guy like Coach Saban and some of the other coaches that have walked away from the game not because they can’t coach anymore but because they were fed up with how things are operating.”

Now, Sanders has his guys and his swagger back. The next step is to win some more games. Colorado opens their season on the road at Georgia Tech on September 3.
