One of the longest chases of the 2027 recruiting cycle for the Oregon Ducks finally came to an end on Tuesday when five-star wide receiver Dakota Guerrant announced his commitment to the Ducks.

Guerrant and the Ducks have been closely linked for months, and it finally came to fruition when the Michigan standout announced his commitment live on “The Pat McAfee Show.” He turned down the opportunity to stay close to his home in Harper Woods, Michigan, choosing Oregon over Big Ten rival Michigan.

While the ability to stay close to home was intriguing, Oregon has always been the answer for Guerrant.

“This was always my dream school growing up,” Guerrant said. “When they started recruiting me, they felt like family from the start. It just kept building with them, and how they do with their receivers and how they’re producing, I’ve just seen myself there from the start.”

That seems to be a theme for some of Oregon’s top commits in the 2027 class. Quarterback commit Will Mencl also noted that Oregon was his dream school when he committed in April. Now, the two could be linking up for touchdowns in the near future inside Autzen Stadium.

The No. 23 overall player in the class and No. 4 wideout, per 247 Sports, Guerrant made 58 catches for 1,100 yards and 27 touchdowns in his junior season. His versatility drew Oregon’s eye, specifically from Dan Lanning and Ross Douglas, both of whom formed a close connection with Guerrant early on.

“Dakota loves the Ducks,” Guerrant’s father, Gerald, said. “Coach Ross loves Dakota. Coach Lanning loves Dakota. It was all the love that we were receiving from there, and this has always been his dream. Before he even got the offer from Oregon, they were No. 1 on his list. I was like, ‘How have you got them No. 1 if you haven’t even gotten the offer yet?’ And he was like, ‘Dad, I’m going to get the offer.'”

Guerrant’s father also noted that his son’s agent, Brandon Grier, was the first person to put the 6-foot-1 wideout in touch with the Ducks. Grier also represents Oregon quarterback Dante Moore.

Guerrant noted that he plans to enroll early and join the team in January, hoping to compete for early playing time.

The Ducks now have the pillars of their class put together, with Guerrant and Mencl viewed as the gems on the offensive side, while five-star edge Rashad Streets and four-star linebacker Toa Satele headline the defensive stars. Oregon has the No. 4 class in the country, per 247 Sports, and the best class in the Big Ten.
