It’s beginning to look like the Ohio State football program is on a bit of a heater, with more momentum building. Just days after receiving a commitment from in-state defensive back Deontay Malone, the Buckeyes received more good news on Wednesday.
That’s because 4-star cornerback Jaden Carey announced his verbal pledge to don the Scarlet and Gray during a live-stream announcement on 247Sports.
Out of St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Carey is ranked as the No. 42 corner and 384th total prospect in the 2027 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is 5-foot, 11-inches, and 175 pounds and ranked as the No. 35 recruit in the state of Florida.
“They believed in me since the jump,” Carey said during the announcement. “They showed the most love to me throughout this recruiting process, especially to not only me but my family, always taking care of them.”
Carey is the second defensive back to commit and the second player from St. Thomas Aquinas to commit to Ohio State in the 2027 class, joining defensive end Wyatt Smith. It’s the same school the Bosa brothers came out of, so the pipeline and pedigree are there.

Carey is the 15th commitment in the 2027 class, a crop that currently ranks as the 12th class in the country but with other highly-sought after players in the mix to commit soon. We’ll be on top of any of that news as it’s made available.
